MANIFEST DP produces and distributes artworks through different artistic practices, which varies from photography, video and installation to sitespecific locations and traditional theatre stage performance.
Svetlin Velchev (33) born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria is a choreographer, visual artist and performer, currently based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He is involved with performing arts since he was 10 years old. Having studied drama, animation and puppetry at Theatre ‘SLON’ Sofia, then graduated secondary education from the professional ballet school NUTI in Sofia, and further more earned a BA in Choreography at the Rotterdam Dance Academy CODARTS.
In 2012, Svetlin founded MANIFEST Dance Company, which has presented shows at many prestigious festivals, prominent venues and events across Europe, Asia and South America, amongst which are Fringe Festival Amsterdam, Jumping Frames Hong-Kong, POOL Video Art Berlin, Museumnacht 010 Rotterdam, Winterwolven Rotterdam, 24 UUR Cultuur Rotterdam, ITF Varna Summer.
In 2014, Svetlin was among the selected performance artists of 1st International Biennial for Contemporary Art in Cartagena, Colombia #1 Cartagena. From 2015 took part and toured with the performance Sculpting Fear by visual artist Julian Hetzel. And in 2017, Velchev performed as a guest dancer at the Dutch National Ballet, Amsterdam.
He worked with Ivo Dimchev, Christian Bakalov, Krassen Krastev, Gabriela Maiorino, Itzik Galili, Yael Davids, David Middendorp, Yoshiko Chuma, Paul Taylor, Gabrielle Staiger, Jack Gallagher, Andre Gingras, Laura Scuzatti, Clotilde Tran-Phat, Irina Osterberg, Stanislav Genadiev and Violeta Vitanova.
Svetlin Velchev is a resident artist at the Cultural Center OT301 in Amsterdam. He works as an assistant curator at the Phoebus Gallery for contemporary art in Rotterdam, as well as a teacher of contemporary dance techniques at CIRCLE Dance, Rotterdam; InMotie Dans, Utrecht; and Circus Department of CODARTS, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
